Marshall Yarn

Marshall was born in Atlanta, Georgia with his family moved to the Valley in 1961.

His Dad played bass and started teaching him bass at the age of 8, to continue his music endeavor Marshall started playing the french horn and started singing in the choir in grade school.  In 1968 the family moved to Overgaard. Marshall started his first band playing guitar, also learned to play drums and started playing with his Dad three nights a week at “Zane’s Steak House” where he learned to sing harmony. He also played drums in the High School stage band and sang in the Madrigals.

He has been in bands ever since, 1985 he moved to Baton Rouge, LA. Where Marshall played drums with “Raymond Easterly” and bass with “New West”, both groups that played the major clubs.  He started his own group in the 90’s called “Misty Bayou” which played around Baton Rouge and New Orleans until 1999.

In 2000 he moved back to Snowflake and started playing with an old friend in a group called “The Sundowners” that’s been around for over 40 years where he played bass and sang.

In 2011 he has come full circle moving back to the  Valley.

Marshall Yarn 50sHe played Bass with a group called “The Flying Pigs” for a couple months before getting back to his roots which is classic country, playing with a group called “Westwind”.

Marshall believes family and music are the best things in his life as he’s been married to the love of his life, ‘BARBARA’ for 39 years, having 3 children and 14 grandchildren.  He’s now playing drums for The American Kountry Band, loving it and brings a lot of talent and professionalism to the band.  Words of wisdom; “We are just great musicians playing great country music”.
